Main Idea & Theme
It started out simple, my shift lead at Instacart wanted to get to know me, and I had explained to him that I was a graphic illustrator. He requested to see some of my artwork, and I showed him some recent projects I had finished.
He loved them all.
We thought about how it would be interesting to create some shirt designs for Instacart, where you can order your groceries through your phone, and have your very own personal shopper. I rounded up some ideas from my coworkers, and set off on creating the design for this shirt. The reason why I asked for my coworkers opinions was simple: everyone deserves to be heard. If I'm creating something that my coworkers are going to be wearing, I want them to know that they are being listened to and have a voice in what is to be created. The waters were added because one of my coworkers had an order of 35 cases of Dasani water recently, we are always picking up bell peppers.
I made the shopper-girl tan because many of my coworkers are either Hispanic, African American, or Asian so I wanted to include everyone's race into this female character, and I included the rainbow to show that Instacart supports the LGBTQIA community.
