Website redesign for The Maryland State Police, in conjunction with Media and Communications for the State of Maryland and The Department of Information Technology for The State of Maryland. Speaking with my supervisor, Deputy Director Ron Snyder, he asked me to start with an assessment for the current state of the M.S.P.'s website's Careers tab. I wrote a comprehensive 18-page user-focused design process-assessment , entailing what needed to be updated, taken out, and created. Within this assessment, I observed a couple of issues:
1.) A lack of direction
2.) The layout
3.) Application process
After my initial assessment, I followed-up with in-depth interviews across various ranks and dept.'s within North East, M.D. at Barrack F, and the Forensic Sciences Building in Pikesville, M.D. My research phase included interactions with senior troopers, background investigators, homicide detectives, and the Superintendent of the Maryland State Police. Recently, I shared my design concepts with Marcy Jacobs and Erik Lyon from The Department of Information Technology for The State of Maryland, which grew into a productive discussion about implementation. As a result, I've been invited to work with The Dept. of I.T. to integrate my designs into their finalized web templates for the M.S.P.'s new website.
