As Senior Motion Designer and Producer for the University of Maryland, Baltimore CURE Scholars Program, I was commissioned to create a transformative visual experience for their graduation event. In collaboration with keynote speaker Chijioke Oranye, music producer Android 23, and program leadership, our mission was to forge a powerful new symbol of identity for the students.
I designed and produced Scoota the Cure, a custom 3D raven mascot directly inspired by a Baltimore cultural icon. The goal was to celebrate the polymath dexterity within the Black community and show the scholars the immense power they hold. The final design was met with widespread acclaim from the university. In recognition of the profound impact of the project, I was given the distinct honor of addressing the graduates directly. During my speech, I shared how their incredible personal journeys were the true inspiration behind the restorative visual work.
