I collaborated with Major League Baseball and YouTube to create custom cover art celebrating Women’s History Month and the launch of the new MLB series, Undeniable. The objective was to design an engaging, culturally significant piece that resonated with young audiences on the YouTube For Families channel while honoring the legacy of The Negro Leagues.
As a woman of color and a passionate baseball historian, I approached this project with deep reverence. I conceptualized the visual direction by selecting a powerful source image of Mamie Johnson. I utilized digital illustration techniques to meticulously paint over the piece, refining specific details on her face and glove. I finalized the composition by executing comprehensive lighting and color adjustments to produce a vibrant, family friendly illustration that authentically celebrated her historic impact.
